Cabinets, switches or relays are IO components (convert AC to DC) that fetch electrical energy to electronic equipment, cables or any other load. They play a vital role in power control, as they are prone to heavy current/voltage than the rest of the circuit blocks. Based on utility, they are categorised into desktop, radio cabinet and rack mount power supplies. The areas of implementation are telecommunications, satellite communication, power grid, PCs & HMIs and cabling. In recent decades, the use of switched mode power supply (SMPS), which uses voltage regulators for electrical conversion, has been increased. Advantages of SMPS over the conventional counterparts are low power consumption, decreased heating and lightweight and compact sizing.
